Why a Template Section Is Greyed Out or Not Populating

Greyed-out sections are conditional — hover the red circle to see which field controls the trigger.

If a section of a template appears greyed out, it's a conditional section that only renders when a specific field or trigger is set. Knuula greys these sections out in the editor so you can see they exist, but the section won't appear in the final letter until the right value is entered.

  1. Hover over the orange circle on the greyed-out section. A tooltip will appear showing which field or variable controls the trigger.
  2. If you click the field in the pop up Knuula will take you to the variable that controls.
  3. Set the field to the value that activates the section (for example, selecting an option from a dropdown or entering text) and save.
  4. Preview the contract to confirm the section now appears.

Please note: If you've set the trigger correctly and the section still won't populate, the template itself may be misconfigured (for example, a duplicated field or a malformed condition). Contact Knuula support with the template name and which section is affected — these need to be fixed at the template level.
