Important: Group contracts can ONLY be created from the Groups page

This is the key thing to know about group contracts: you cannot create a group contract from the Parties tab, the Contracts tab, or from an individual party. Group contracts are always initiated from the Groups tab on the Prepare Contracts dashboard. If you start a contract from anywhere else, it will be tied to that single party only — not the group.

How to create a group contract

  1. From the dashboard, click the Prepare Contracts tab.
  2. Click the Groups sub-tab.
  3. Select the group (or groups) you want to issue a contract to.
  4. Use the Actions menu to apply the relevant service or template to the selected group.
  5. Prepare and send the contract from the group context.

How to identify a group contract

On the Groups tab, contracts that were issued at the group level appear next to the group name with a purple group label. This badge confirms that the contract covers every party in the group, not just one.

What makes group contracts different

  • All parties in the group are included on a single contract
  • The group's main party is typically the primary signer or recipient
  • Group fields populate automatically — no need to re-enter shared information per party
  • You manage one contract record instead of one per entity, which simplifies reminders, revisions, and tracking

Available actions on a group contract

Clicking a group contract on the dashboard opens the same set of actions as any other contract: View Contract, Open Contract, Open Contract in New Window, Schedule Reminders, Send Reminder, Revise Contract, and Revoke Contract.

Please note: Because group contracts can only be created from the Groups page, the group must exist before you prepare the contract. If you need to issue a contract to a set of related parties that aren't grouped yet, create the group first, then return to the Groups tab to issue the contract.
